Jivan Adalja was an Indian painter and printmaker. He was born in Karachi in I935. He obtained his Diploma in Applied Arts in 1956 and Diploma in Fine Arts in 1960 from the Sir J. J. School of Art. He further studied Printmaking in Poland on a scholarship and obtained his Diploma in Graphics from AFA, Warsaw in 1960.
Adalja’s works have been exhibited in numerous domestic and overseas exhibitions including Mumbai, Chandigarh, New Delhi, Switzerland, Sao Paulo, Tokyo, San Francisco and Manila. He was the recipient of several accolades during his career namely Gujarat State Award 1962-64, Lalit Kala Akademi Award 1965, Poland Magazine Cover Design Award 1974, Senior Fellowship Government of India 1991-93 and Kala Shree, AIFACS 2001.
